Week 1. Thursday, Research: Lee Jeffries and Steve McCurry

"He infused them with light, not darkness...

i love the feeling of these picture, that despite them being black and white, the colours of emotion captured of those being photographed creates some intense beauty. a type of innocence and raw simplicity even. 



Steve McCurry
Solitude

"Since then, McCurry has gone on to create stunning images over six continents and countless countries. His work spans conflicts, vanishing cultures, ancient traditions and contemporary culture alike - yet always retains the human element that made his celebrated image of the Afghan Girl such a powerful image."




I like how he has captured the scenery in these photos. I also like how the use of certain vantage points and the composition of the subject in each photo draws the viewers eye to both the scenery and the people.
