It looks like he shoots his photos outside, with some of the photos showing dirt floors. His photos are quite serious and formal with the subjects posing and having no expression on their faces. Reminds me of olden day portraits, where the person being photographed or painted never smiled. Black and white also gives a olden day feel to the photos also.
